Life update
Well that’s my first working week over… I’m so proud of Amelia and how well she has adapted this week. Its been a big change for all of us. I was actually really looking forward to it, which I know is unusual, because its given me back a bit of independance. Amelia is teething so her sleep has been all over the place for the last few weeks, my insomnia is back (thank you mr alarm clock!) And I’m probably rocking a zombie look right now, but I couldn’t be any more proud of how she has settled into her new childcare and routine. Her childminder says it feels like she has always been there and that made me so proud!
Decluttering progress
Alphabet Decluttering is well under way, this week was the letter A!
Idea’s: Appliances, Attic, Airing cupboard, Artwork, Accessories, Apps
This week I went for Apps & Appliances.
Apps was a pretty quick one as I was able to sort my play store alphabetically and I deleted 44 apps from my phone in a few moments!
Since this was super quick and doesn’t clear the house, I decided to do another item and decluttered some old appliances too – I’ve got 2 hair appliances and an electric oil filled radiator to list tomorrow during Amelia’s nap. I’ve popped a few extra bits in the box too (a vase, a mirror, a shelf and a coat hook) as I was moving some things around so we have a bit of a charity corner going on at the moment. I can’t get there this week so they have a week online ahead of them.
Saturday is the start of the next letter too so that has flowm round. This principle is so far proving a really suitable pace for us so I’m excited to see how it goes!
Christmas…
Yes I know its only January 🤣 We decided that this year, all the money we raised from using cashback sites and profits from selling our decluttering would go towards Christmas 2025. We set ourselves a target of £1000, and by the 5th January we already had over £200! Now I know we won’t always get so much so quickly, but its really helping to motivate me to declutter more things. A few more things have sold this week as well so I have another £35 to add to my pot over the next week or so once the funds clear in Vinted!

I finally managed to box up all our decs very roughly. I’m going to need an extra box which I’m reluctant to buy just now as I know I have more clearing to do in the loft so I’ll declutter Chridtmas on my second round of the alphabet and make some space to rearrange things then. Just meed to put everything into the loft over the weekend.
Meal planning
I’m not sure if its just me, but meal planning feels so much more pressured now I have a tiny human to feed and keep full of nutriets! It is making me really think about what we’re eating and how conveniant junk food really is. I’ve never planned our lunches… until now. My usual white board has lost its Eisenhower Priority Matrix and gained a meal plan and life guide for the week to keep us both on track. I think I’ll have to find a better solution but for now its working well.
Usually when I meal plan, I start by looking in the freezer at what proteins we have, but I bought Joe Wickes Wean in 15 book for £8 in the amazon book sale, and I’m fascinated by some of the protein ideas so we have a few recipes and ideas we’re going to try!
Its made my food shop a bit more exciting this week so we’ve loaded all the new ingrediants into Bring ready. I’ll touch base on Bring in more detail in my meal planning post soon!
Back to work
Getting back to work went as well as it can do after 14 months off. Despite all my efforts in the snow last weekend, my van had a huff and wouldnt start so another job for the weekend is to work out why.
I’m already getting my teeth into some exciting things in the day job, and everything is flooding back. Its also quite exciting to think about progression, and I mean that in the sense of bettering yourself. I slipped on listening to many podcasts while I was off so thats something I’m looking forward to doing during my commutes again.
Thats my weekly round up for this week! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. We’re celebrating my best friends little girls christening so its set to be a nice relaxing one! Have a fab one whatever you do!
Love, Jo-Anne x
