Life Update

Its been a busy week in our new routine, and hard to believe that we’re 4 weeks down! I feel like I’ve never been away from work, even if my memory of the system is a little rusty. That can only be a good thing, right?!

We started this week trying Mr W doing bedtime and its so far going really well. I’m headed off to a hen weekend in March so we decided that its well overdue we try and share bedtime. Its been so nice for him to spend precious time with her and practice  while I’m here. Sharing bedtime for me has been amazing, I can get everything cleaned down before we sit and watch some tv so its been really productive. I only wish we’d done it sooner!

Alphabet Decluttering

Alphabet Decluttering update, this week is the letter D!

Ideas: Drawers, Decorative items, Dishes, DVDs, Dog Crate (crap on the top), Dog stuff, Dog Treats, Dog Towels, Dressing gowns, Dresses, Dog Toys, Dart Boards

Dog bits; remember the chest I told you about last week? Well what a double whammy… there was loads of old dog stuff in the bottom to declutter!! Some have gone in a bag for the cat and dog shelter and 1 thing in storage! There is still another chest to declutter but I’ll save that for another week. I’ve bagged the dog bits, and the old bedding to go to the cat and dog shelter.

Dressing Gowns; not sure if everyone else is like this but we have SO MANY dressing gowns and oodies… and personally, I barely wear them other than in the garden. I had 3 dressing gowns and 2 oodies, so I’ve chucked 2 of my dressing gowns away and kept only my personalised one, my new zipped oodie and I’ve popped my thicker over the head oodie into my wardrobe as this one I usually wear when camping but its too thick for in the house. Dan lives in his dressing gowns, so I am curious to see if he declutters his too… I doubt it haha!

On top of the dog crate; While there wasn’t much to declutter from the top of the dog crate, its full of things we use all the time so it looks like a car crash. I’ve tidied things up into some wooden baskets so it looks and feels less messy. I’m waiting to have some fitted shelves added to this space and then we need to decide what we’ll do with Ted’s little alcove in the kitchen. The crates I can paint at a later time and I’ll use them on the shelves anyway so its saved me a job for later!

Disposal & Distribution; Everything that we have decluttered so far, is loaded in the car to dispose of this week. Theres things for friends, family, the local dog shelter and the charity.

Food Audits

You might remember last weekend we had a 12 hour power outage, so while I was really desperate to do my food audits by the end of the month this really forced my hand.

Last weekend I cleared out the fridge. This weekend I’ve done the food cupboards. Top tip for audits is to use the voice recorder on your phone and then transcrive it using AI – This means you can copy and paste it into a nice template and print it. Next weeks job is the freezer!

I’ve written up a lovely freezer organisation blog for you, I’m just figuring out the technical side of sharing my template with you all.

Meal Planning

Earlier this week I used GenAI to get 30 meal ideas and I’ve filtered out some things for the next week that we will eat. The more I use GenAI, the better I get at my prompts so I think this might be the way forward! Theres been no debates over what we’re going to eat in a week and its been nice to try new things too!

Spring Cleaning

This weeks spring cleaning has been to wash the dog beds. A nice quick and easy quarterly task ticked off the list!

Next week, I’m hopinh the weather stays nice enough to get into the garden and clear up some leaves and storm debris – fingers crossed!

Love, Jo-Anne x
