Life Update
What is life without a bit of reality… So if you read my last update and are now reading this one, you’re probably wondering who put a pound in the juke box, haha! I’ll make no excuses, I’ve been in a bit of a funk for the last few weeks, I mean I hadn’t even looked at my automated To Do list for over 2 weeks, which is really not like me.
My house was a mess, my mind was a mess and I was getting so short tempered. My updates were written at the last minute, whilst trying to hold myself accountable and I am totally grateful for the A-Z decluttering as it kept me commited to posting, even when I wasn’t feeling at my best.
Last weekend’s spring sunshine and fresh air finally pulled me out. I’ve pulled out my weekly pill box, stacked it up and I’m back to my vitamins too which is really helping my mood and as a result my motivation.
We started the weekend and month off with some top up shopping as I noticed we were getting super low on cleaning supplies – something I banned myself from buying while on maternity leave unless we ran out… and other than fairy liquid and laundry products (no shock there to any baby mama’s), we didn’t run out of anything. I had far too many surplus supplies, so I’ve limited myself to 2 on the shelf which buys me a bit of time if I can’t get to do a supplies run. February is a great time to stock up on supplies while there are spring cleaning deals but also most people have a little extra cash as its a short month and there are no council tax and water bills (if you pay over 10 months like us).
On Sunday we headed to the beach. Its been too long since we last visted our favourite and poor Ted was overdue. We’ve been putting off as he’s had a limp for a few months thats been coming and going, but the spring sunshine and early low tide was just the motivation we needed! It was amazing to get out in the fresh air and play with Amelia in the sand. Its the first time this year we’ve been which is very unusual for us.
We rounded Sunday off with our weekly reset and commitment meeting – you can read more about that in my blog article here! Weekly resets and commitment meetings are how I keep my world on its axis, and if you don’t do them they are the quickest thing you can do to set yourself up for success. Future you will thank you alllll dang week!
Monday had us back to a busy week of balance work, toddler chaos and unpredictability.
Last Saturday was my first night away from Amelia, I went on a hen weekend and left Dan in charge. He did AMAZING. Amelia struggled a little, didn’t sleep great and cried most of the night for me, poor girl. Ever since she’s been quite clingy but I think she’s beginning to realise I’m not going anywhere any time soon. Pray for me next weekend when Dan goes on the stag!
This weeks been fairly uneventful since, we’ve managed to get Amelia’s routine almost back with a few split nights and tag teaming when they go over 2 hours.
I got side tracked and neglected my updates as I’ve been on a mission to get back on track and so far so good!
Alphabet Decluttering
Alphabet Decluttering update, this week is the letters were I & J
I Ideas: interior plants, invitations, instruction manuals, images, impractical items, “in between” items
J Idea’s: Jewelry, Journals, Jumpers, Jars, Jackets, Junk Drawer, “just in case” items,
I’ve really stuggled with these two letters as we didn’t really have a lot to throw away. I managed to let go of some of our unsent wedding invites, keeping 1 for our memory box.
I could say I tidied up a few things that were “in between” homes, and that pretty much would be my entire house over the last few weeks. I’d really neglected my mantra of “don’t put it down, put it away” and boy could I tell.
For J, I bagged lots of jars for the kids to do some activities with at the childminders but theres probably a lot more things I could have done, but I’ll leave that for next time it comes around.
Meal Planning
Meal planning has been going really well, we’re getting into a rhythm with our new routine and its helping with meal planning. I’m in the process of electronically listing all our food inventory so that I can use that in AI to create a meal plan with limited shopping, but I’m time poor at the moment so its on hold.
Spring cleaning / Home update
“Spring” cleaning is going really well, I’ve started my quarterly appliance cleans – hoovers, washing machine etc. While I do try to do these more often, its not always practical to get around to when you’re juggling so many things
I’m on the look out for something to deep clean our LVT… I’m between a hydrovac and a new mop. If you’ve got any recommendations let me know!
And that’s a round up of my last 2 weeks!
Love, Jo-Anne x
