Life Update

Slightly later update this week than usual! Well the week started off quite interesting, poor Amelia is teething and got 2 molars within the last week which of course is giving her some awful ENT symptoms. It’s played havoc with her sleep, and on Saturday she coughed so much she was sick, poor thing. As the weeks gone on she’s improved massively and back to sleeping much better.

The van is still out being fixed after it failed its MOT, we’re hunting down a sliding door which means potentially repainting it in the summer to colour match it to the rest of the van. We need to consider if we’ll swap the window back in too for vital light. Hopefully as its not structural, we’ll be able to patch the door thats there and save ourselves some hassle!

Alphabet Decluttering

Alphabet Decluttering update, this week is the letter G

Ideas: Garden, Gadgets, Glasswear, Garage,  Gardening things, Glittery seasonal clothes, Gastronomy books, Giant clutter stacks, Groceries, Guest bedroom, Games: Board games, card games, video games – if you haven’t played them in a year, it’s time to let them go. Gadgets: Old phones, outdated cameras, broken appliances – recycle them responsibly. Greeting cards: Sentimental, but they take up space. Consider taking photos of them and then recycling the originals. Gifts: Unwanted or unused gifts – re-gift them or donate them to charity. Glassware: Chipped or mismatched glasses, vases, or decorative items – dispose of them safely. Gloves: Old gardening gloves, winter gloves, or work gloves – if they’re worn out, toss them. Golf gear: Clubs, balls, shoes, or clothing – if you don’t play golf anymore, donate them. Groceries: Expired food, old spices, or food you’ll never eat – clear out your pantry and fridge. Gardening supplies: Broken tools, empty pots, or old seed packets – organize and discard what you don’t need. Garbage: Seems obvious, but make sure you’re regularly getting rid of trash and preventing it from piling up.

I started the week trying to do some gardening but the shed padlock was totally stuck but I wasn’t sure if it was frozen. The WD40 was inside and the spare in my van… still at the garage… so my decluttering was cut short. Instead I cleared away the debris I could from all of the recent storms – our driveway is a wind tunnel so we had lots of rubbish lying around.

By the end of the week, I’d found some WD40 in the loft and decided it was absolute jammed stuck and not frozen so this morning I attacked it with bolt cutters and broke in.

Great garden progress today

I set to work cutting the grass to get rid of the long grass so it will dry out to be cut nicely when its drier, which also helped get rid of the leaves. Then I prepped the bald patches the leaves had left behind for some grass seed which I covered with a mix of compost from my potato bags and some builders sand we had lying round. I spent around 5 or 6 hours pottering around today so I can safely tick the garden off my list!

Remember, decluttering is about more than just getting rid of stuff. It’s about creating a space that makes you happy, is functional and peaceful to enjoy.

Meal Planning

This week we had a few busy evenings, so instead of using AI we had a fridge clear out as well as having a “mothership” roast (a principle from Jamie Olivers, Save with Jamie program).

I made a chicken dinner and used the carcass (and another from the freezer) to make a batch of chicken stock for the freezer as I realised we were running low when I did the freezer audit.

Meal plan for next week is drafted using the AI ideas I pulled a few weeks ago.

Thats the round up on another week of organised carnage in the Wright household! Hope you have a great week!

Love, Jo-Anne x
