Weekly update
I started the week getting organised with the final birthdays and Fathers day cards on Funky Pigeon. Now, I’ve always ordered in bulk and found 50% off codes; this makes their cards pretty much the same price as supermarket and card factory, with the added bonus that they’re delivered to my door (ordering in bulk keeps my cost per card lower) amd they’re personalised. We always personalise the back with “Tedlet Productions” and our favourite photo of him from our Engagement shoot.

This time I couldn’t find any codes online for 50% off 5 cards but I did see Funky Pigeon have created the new VIP system so I still got 40% off cards to my home address.
I also go via topcashback (here’s our referral link) to the website and buy credit periodically so I’m earning cashback and spending less. I create the cards in the app as I find the editor so much easier, then do topcashback again to purchase them. I havent figured out if the credit or the card purchase tracks as I normally do both pretty close together but its a good habit to get into.
Over the weekend we had planned to head away in the van but with the weather turning wet and the campsites we had been looking at being full, we decided to make up for the lack of chores last weekend and tidied up the garden, cleaned the hoover, kitchen and bathroom.
We booked some camper trips around cricket games that are a little further away so we can test a few 2 day trips before committing to anything longer later in the year.
When I was making dinner, I knocked up a batch of Wright Lazy Sauce for the freezer using frozen veg and chopped tomatoes… and it boiled over and made the cooker scruffy again 🙈
On Monday when I was making dinner I decided to FINALLY prep my potatoes for the freezer – these cost me 32p at Easter in the 8p veg sales and I’m really impressed how they’ve lasted. A few were too small so I’ve kept them for planting but I need more potato sacks so I’ve ordered from Amazon ready to plant up next weekend. I made the hugest batch of mash… when I say huge we used my massive stock pan and a whole block of butter! We froze some in silicone yorkshire trays for Amelia (mash is life at the moment) and some in bigger batches for ourselves which can be defrosted and heated back up for a quicker midweek meal.
I’ve started preparing extra veg when I make dinners so that I can freeze those in my silicone yorkshire trays which means Amelia can have a quick healthy meal as they’re the perfect potion size. Last week was carrots and peas, and this wek was carrots and sweetcorn. I always have brocolli and cauli in the fridge as they’re so easy to make a quick dinner midweek like cauli or brocolli mac and cheese.
On Tuesday, Ted went into the vets for his tooth extraction so we used the child-free time to collect a kallax from ikea, took down our beloved baby jail and collapse the cot as Amelia is now sleeping on a make shift floor bed- by makeshift its just a matress at the moment which we lift up regularly, but she moves around too much and is in her climbing phase so I don’t trust her with an actual bed just yet for her own safety. We’ll buy her the Malm ottoman (like ours) later in the year when I can trust she won’t fall out. Ive popped the cot matress to the side to catch her rolling out of bed, as it otherwise needs to be thrown away as the lullaby SIDS guidance suggests not sharing matresses.
I rearranged the loft a little to make space and stored the cot with the other baby stuff I’ve kept. Gosh that loft needs some attention, its absolutely fit to burst! I also loaded the van with some things to take to the charity shop at the weekend.
The rest of the week was pretty normal other than Ted recovering from his surgery. He’s also supposed to be having a month of rest as he’s been limping on and off since Christmas but he’s got the memo so its been a tough week for him, especially with Amelia’s new freedom as he’s not resting properly while she charges around… even when she goes no where near him he’s uneasy.
Alphabet Decluttering
Alphabet Decluttering update, this week is the letter V
Ideas: Vases, Valuables, Video Games & consoles, Video tapes (VHS), Vouchers, Vehicles, Vacuum Cleaners, Vests.
This week I opted for video games consoles. I’ve had a few boxes of electricals put to one side in the loft for a while waiting for Mr W to wipe them, so this week I’ve brought them down with the hopes he’ll get the memo this time.
Meal Planning
This weeks meals included
- Friday – mince and dumplings
- Saturday – Chinese takeaway
- Sunday – Meatballs and pasta

Round Up
Super productive beginning of the week which tailed off while we cared for Ted but weeks like this happen in real life. I’m really looking forward to seeing how much the electrics add to our Christmas savings!
