Hello everyone!
Wow, last time I sat down to write a blog post we were moving website platforms (which I still haven’t finished), moving into the in-laws while we renovated our home and little did we know but we were also pregnant! What a difference a year makes!
Quick introduction for anyone new here – Welcome! My name is Jo-Anne and I am a self-confessed organisation addict. I’m an accountant for a global manufacturing company, and I live with my husband Dan, our 6 year old springer-poodle cross Ted and our 4 month old baby Amelia, in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. In my spare time I love baking and crafting, and I’m a parish councillor for the village where we live. I met my (now) husband Dan when we were 18, and over the last 7 years we have bought a house, a dog, planned 3 weddings (and only hosted 1 of them), set up Organised Wright in March 2022, planned a major home renovation and found out we were pregnant JUST as we knocked our house into the new extension and moved in with Dan’s parents… so yes, 2023 was carnage!
While I’m still navigating life with a young baby “the show must go on” all be it at a much slower pace than before. I’m still finalising my this new website (which I started in Feb 2023) whilst juggling all things baby and co-running a home.
I’ve been SO lucky with my motherhood journey so far and I keep pinching myself, but one thing I’m struggling a little bit with is the unpredictability in every day… you never know how long a nap will last, if she will even nap at all – I could have 5 minutes or 4 hours and every day is totally different. I’m really having to draw on all my organisation skills and corporate experiences to keep everything ticking smoothly. Some days I get ahead, some days I fall behind – you win some and you lose some!
You may have seen on socials that Amelia caught and gifted us a tummy bug, and while it was less than ideal for my husband who suffers from Emetaphobia, it really made me realise how much of a routine I had managed to establish so far and how much we were benefitting from it physically and mentally.
We’ve built a bedtime and morning routine which has helped us to get ahead in the mornings for the following day. We’re tag-teaming to make sure we eat healthily and share the load of parenthood. We’re communicating better than ever before.
When we were playing catch up, I realised that what I probably havent shared so far is a little “back to basics” on how we got to this point already.
I’ll also be sharing a lot of baby and maternity tips, and while I appreciate lots of my followers joined me during my pre-baby ‘D-I-N-K’y lifestyle, Amelia is now a huge part of our identity so I’ll be incorporating maternity and family life too.
Hope you’ve enjoyed my little update, and Happy Easter!
Love, Jo-Anne x
